Job description

12-month fixed contract vet role with Lawrence Vets, Nottinghamshire

Up to £65,000 (DOE)

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

A proud member of inspiring vet care, Lawrence Vets, is looking for an enthusiastic vet to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, on a full-time basis.

The role

You’ll work with a varied small animal caseload, enjoying an excellent balance of consultations and surgery contributing to driving the highest clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice. Alongside routine procedures including staged dentistry, you’ll gain exposure to advanced cardiac workups and a wide range of more advanced surgical cases through a peripatetic surgeon who attends the practice on a monthly basis to carry out orthopaedics and more complex soft tissue surgeries giving you the opportunity to broaden your clinical skills while delivering outstanding patient care. The role will require you to cover 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days with weekday shifts between 8.00am and 7:00pm and 2 in 9 Saturday mornings, 9.00am to 1:00pm

About us

The practice underwent a full refurbishment a few years ago, and alongside this we created a dedicated cat only clinic that supports our main surgery, that's on the same site. The cat clinic has a completely separate waiting room, prep, theatre etc and is fully equipped mirroring the main surgery with dental x ray, digital x ray, ultrasound, Idexx lab equipment and lots more. Our team is composed of 10 vets, including certificate holders in cardiology and feline medicine, 11 RVNs, 1 VCA and a dedicated team of receptionists and support staff. Our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we pride ourselves on a close-knit family feel within our team with many members of the team being at the practice for over 10 plus years.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care.

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • A passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
