A local veterinary practice in Worcester is seeking a permanent veterinary surgeon to join their team. This role involves a balanced caseload of surgery and medicine, with strong support for further professional development. The practice offers flexible working hours, a competitive salary, and additional benefits such as relocation assistance and a welcome bonus. Ideal candidates will have a surgical bias and a commitment to quality care.
Here at Stocks Veterinary Centre, we have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join us on a permanent basis. This role offers a well-balanced caseload between surgery and medicine. We would love to hear from a candidate with a surgical bias, as we could offer the caseload and support for a certificate in this area. The role would be split between both of our practices. We can potentially offer you the chance to progress into a more senior clinical role in the future. We’re able to offer a relocation allowance of up to £5,000 for candidates that require it, as well as a welcome bonus for new hires of £5,000 (pro rata).
Work life balance that works for you
We are proud to say our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale on your work life balance. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance, whether you are looking for a full-time or part-time role we are sure we can find the right rota pattern for you. A typical full-time role would involve working 4 days per week, over 40 hours, with a shared 1:3 Saturday morning rota (08:30 - 12:30). Vets Now cover out-of-hours emergencies, but we provide a very light, non-demanding inpatient care on a shared rota basis.
We are a first opinion small animal practice based in Worcestershire, with our main site in Upton Upon Seven and a smaller, fully equipped branch in Lower Wick, Worcester. Our Upton Upon Severn site is situated in an old GP surgery, with ample parking and a large reception with separate dog and cat waiting areas. There are two consulting rooms and a nurse clinic room. There are also separate dog, cat, and isolation kennels. All clinical areas have pipped oxygen, with dedicated prep, theatre, and diagnostic rooms. We have a wide range of modern diagnostic equipment, including an in-house lab, digital x-ray (including dental), laparoscopy, endoscopy, and ultrasound. Our Lower Wick site has a dedicated theatre and separate prep room with an in-house lab. All of our clinical staff are given access to the practice’s Vet CT subscription. Both sites are within easy reach of the M5 and M50 motorways, with good links to Birmingham airport, the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds.
Our team of six vets has over 85 years of experience between them. Half of our vet team have been with us for ten years or longer. We strive very hard to look after our staff; we focus on maintaining a very good work life balance and a positive working environment. Two of our vets hold certificates in medicine and feline practice. We actively support and fund the pursuit of certificates and there is ample case variety to get casebooks done.
We have seven fully qualified nurses, one ANA's and 8 support staff. We are also a nurse training practice and many of our students go on to stay with us as RVNs.
We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:
