Dorset Coast Vets in Dorchester, Dorset, is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal to join our team. Youll manage a diverse first-opinion caseload, mainly dogs with cats and rabbits, with a good mix of consultations and surgery and flexible patterns.
We offer modern facilities, clinical freedom and strong CPD support, plus a welcoming team and mentoring. The package includes a salary up to £75,000 FTE DOE, up to £5,000 welcome bonus and up to £5,000 relocation allowance.

If you enjoy the variety that comes with first-opinion practice, you'll feel right at home. You'll work with a diverse small animal caseload, predominantly dogs alongside cats and rabbits, with the opportunity to follow your cases through and deliver continuity of care. The role offers an excellent balance of consultations and surgery, with flexibility available for those who would prefer a more consult-focused position.

Our practices are equipped with digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy and a comprehensive in-house laboratory, alongside access to hydrotherapy, laser therapy and physiotherapy services. You'll have the clinical freedom to investigate and manage your own cases while being supported by an experienced team whenever you need it.
You'll be joining a welcoming team of five Veterinary Surgeons, nine RVNs, a dedicated Client Care Team and our supportive Practice Director. With an ECC certificate holder already within the team and strong encouragement for CPD and certificate study, you'll be surrounded by colleagues who enjoy sharing knowledge and helping one another develop. Whether you're looking to broaden your clinical skills or pursue a particular area of interest, we'll support you every step of the way.
You'll enjoy a flexible working pattern, with full-time hours of 40 per week spread across either four or five days, while part‑time applications from 18 hours per week are also welcomed. The rota includes just 2 in 8 Saturdays (8:30am–4:30pm), with no additional weekend work, out‑of‑hours, or on‑call commitments, helping you maintain an excellent work‑life balance.
