Contract: Full-Time, Permanent - Part-Time & Flexible options available

Salary: Up to €70,000 commensurate with experience

Are you an experienced veterinary surgeon looking for a permanent position in a supportive and progressive hospital environment? Tullamore Pet Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our close-knit professional, clinical team. We're seeking a confident, skilled clinician to bring their expertise to a team committed to excellence in patient care.

This is a 5-day per week role (with 1 in 4 Saturdays), including participation in a shared on call rota (just 1 night per week), offering a varied and rewarding caseload across consultations, surgery, inpatient care, and emergency cases. As part of our clinical team, you'll also have the opportunity to shape clinical standards, mentor junior team members, and explore career progression pathways, including clinical leadership roles if desired.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality clinical across consultations, surgical procedures and case management
  • Perform advanced diagnostic assessments and detailed treatment planning
  • Conduct routine small animal surgeries and dentistry procedures
  • Manage inpatients, emergencies, and intensive care cases with clinical confidence
  • Work both independently (including sole charge) and collaboratively within our experienced veterinary team
  • Engage with and support team development and evidence-based clinical practices
  • Take advantage of our CARE fund to go above and beyond for patients when needed


  • What We're Looking For

  • VCI registered veterinary surgeon, fully eligible to work in Ireland
  • Minimum of 4 years' clinical experience in small animal practice
  • Competence in small animal surgery, diagnostics, and emergency medicine
  • Strong communication and leadership qualities; comfortable supporting less experienced vets
  • Desire for clinical progression - whether it's developing special interests or pursuing a Certificate, Diploma or PhD (all fully funded)
  • Confidence with sole charge and complex case management
  • Interest in mentoring, quality improvement, or leadership development welcomed
