Job description

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team of veterinary surgeons on a permanent basis.

Join a place to excel. Mainstone Vets strives to provide the best personalised care for its clients and their patients. We are a growing practice with deep roots within the local community of Romsey. We are constantly investing in and improving the facilities we use to care for our patients, as well as our staff. We pride ourselves on our personal approach to our cases and our communication around treatment and options.

We are ideally located in the beautiful Broadlands Estate within easy reach of the M27. Are you looking for the freedom to utilise your skills in a friendly supportive environment? We love to bring new ideas and progressive treatments to our practice and patients to ensure we truly provide great care, and ideally, the candidates would share in this philosophy.

We have invested heavily in our patient monitoring and care, with multiparameter monitors in both dental and surgery, doppler blood pressure monitoring, syringe driver, multiple infusion pumps, in-house laboratory equipment, floating table for x-rays, dental suite with dental x-ray, and silver cat friendly status with dedicated cat-only clinic times.

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, including 1:5 Saturdays and one to two evenings per week with shifts ending at 7:00 PM.

Our Supportive Team

We have always had a stable team, meaning we have great camaraderie and are always happy to help each other out. We have regular vet and full team meetings to give plenty of opportunity to discuss cases, concerns, or new developments. We have a lovely garden for lunch breaks in the summer months.

We socialise on a regular basis, from working in the practice garden, to team BBQ’s, nights out, and actively engage with our local community, attending many shows (Dogstival, New Forest Show, and Romsey Show), running open days, and doing talks at the local schools.

What You Will Bring

We welcome applicants from Veterinary Surgeons, preferably with experience (although sole charge is normally Saturdays only with vets willing to support), but it is more important that you are keen to be a part of our team and to contribute to our high-quality care. Motivation is the key requirement; we have a really positive, progressive team and want to keep an emphasis on this. Communication is key and something we pride ourselves on, and our clients expect from us, so this would be a critical skill for any applicant.

So, if you’re a motivated vet, who loves striving to provide great care in a supportive environment whilst willing to have a laugh, please do let us know.

Because Our People Matter

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises, and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:

  • Work-life balance, including 6.6 weeks annual leave and additional holiday entitlement for your birthday
  • Wellbeing, including private medical insurance, enhanced family-friendly policies, and initiatives focused on employee wellbeing
  • Development, including £1250 CPD allowance with 40 hours paid pro rata, certificate support, and learning and development opportunities via the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Professional Memberships, including BVA membership, VDS cover, and RCVS fees
  • Additional benefits, including Pawsome Benefits, pension, and discounted staff pet care
