Overview

Start the rewarding career you deserve! Mintlaw Vets in Aberdeenshire is welcoming applications for an experienced veterinary surgeon who is confident in both consulting and surgery. You will manage a varied first opinion small animal caseload and have opportunities to develop in both consulting and surgical skills, including dentistry.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality first opinion veterinary care in a small animal practice, with a focus on consulting and general surgery.
  • Participate in general surgery and dentistry; dedicated one ops day each week with potential for more if desired.
  • Utilise and develop surgical skills within a supportive team environment.
  • Collaborate with a team of vets, nurses, and support staff to deliver excellent patient and client care.
What We Offer
  • Part-time role: 25 hours per week over 3 days (8:30am – 7:30pm) with a rotating 1:5 Saturday shift (8:30am–1pm) and no out-of-hours commitment.
  • Flexible rota patterns and working hours to support work–life balance.
  • Access to a well-equipped, purpose-built facility including four consulting rooms, a surgical theatre, radiography/dentistry suite, in-house Idexx analysers and microscope, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, endoscopy, and modern dental equipment.
  • Light and spacious waiting area; dedicated nurse consultation room; on-site hospital lab.
  • Small animal only practice with occasional exotic cases; orthopaedics referred to AVR and complex medical/ophthalmology cases referred to specialists as needed.
About Mintlaw Vets

Mintlaw Vets is a bustling single-site practice in Aberdeenshire with a collaborative, forward-thinking team. We hold RCVS Accreditation, VetGDP, VN Training Practice status, and ISFM Cat-Friendly Clinic Accreditation; we implement Fear Free techniques to enhance wellbeing for clients and patients. Our team includes a Clinical Director with soft tissue surgery experience, a rabbit care-focused RVN, and other dedicated professionals. We offer staff facilities such as custom-built staff dog kennels for applicants wishing to bring their own dog to work.

Team and Working Environment

As a member of our 5-person vet team, you will be supported by 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, student nurses, and VCAs, plus a diligent reception and management team. We foster a culture of clinical excellence and collaboration.

Location

Mintlaw is in Aberdeenshire, with easy access to the coast and about 30 miles from Aberdeen. The practice lies on the outskirts of town near Aden and Pitfour Country Parks, offering rural charm with city accessibility.
