Job description

Salary up to £65,000 DOE and up to £3,000 relocation allowance

We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming team at our small animal, first-opinion practice based in the charming market town of Oundle.

A Practice Where You Can Thrive

As part of a wider group with branches in Oundle, Thrapston, Peterborough, and Staverton, we provide comprehensive care for a variety of pets, primarily cats and dogs, with the occasional rabbit or guinea pig.

Our Oundle practice is bright and modern, equipped with three consult rooms, a well-stocked dispensary, a dedicated theatre, and separate cat and dog wards to ensure a stress-free environment for all our patients. You'll also have access to a full in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, and ultrasound equipment. While this role is primarily based in Oundle, there may be occasional travel to support our Thrapston and Corby branches.

You'll spend the majority of your time in consultations, but roughly a third of your role will involve surgery. In addition to routine procedures, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in more advanced work, including orthopaedic surgeries and laparoscopic spays. For complex imaging or endoscopy, we work closely with trusted referral centres.

Our RVNs play a vital role in the practice, running their own clinics in areas such as health checks, post-op care, and weight management.

Develop your career and find your people

You'll be joining a supportive and collaborative team made up of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, 11 skilled nurses, and 9 dedicated support staff. Our team includes a certificate holder in exotics, and we regularly welcome visiting specialists in medicine and orthopaedics.

Although we're a busy practice, we never lose sight of what matters, supporting one another, delivering exceptional care, and giving back to our community. We proudly support several local charities and value the strong connections we've built with pet owners across the region.

We are passionate about career development and will fully support your CPD, whether you're looking to pursue personal clinical interests or take the next step by working towards a certificate.

Build a career around you

We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you.

Ideally, full-time working 40 hours over a 4-day week, with a full day off every week. However, we happily encourage applications from part time/flexible hours candidates.

There is no OOH however you will be required to partake in our weekend Saturday rota: 1/6 8:30am-12pm and 1/6 8:30-5pm with 5 hours back in-lieu the following Friday afternoon. Salary up to £65,000 DOE.

Our local area

Located in the picturesque market town of Oundle, our practice offers the perfect blend of countryside charm and community spirit. Nestled in the heart of Northamptonshire, Oundle is renowned for its beautiful Georgian architecture, shops, riverside walks, and vibrant local events. With excellent transport links to Peterborough, Cambridge, and London, Oundle provides a peaceful, scenic setting without compromising on convenience. It's an ideal place to settle, explore, and enjoy a great quality of life both in and outside of work.
