Job summary

Victoria Veterinary Practice in Dowlais is seeking a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon to join our established team. You will manage a varied caseload and provide high-quality medical and surgical care to small animals.

You will work 40 hours per week over 4 days, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and a supportive, collaborative team culture. RCVS registration or eligibility is required, and ongoing professional development is encouraged.

  • Veterinary degree and RCVS registration or eligibility to register.
  • Excellent communication and client relation skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop clinical interests.
  • Professional, reliable and able to work independently or with the team.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat small animal cases across medical and surgical caseload.

Victoria Veterinary Practice is a community-minded, multi-branch veterinary practice. Both our sites (Dowlais & Aberdare) are situated in the South Wales valleys with easy access to Cardiff. Our Dowlais is site is near the beautiful Brecon Beacons.

State of the art facilities

Our state-of-the-art facilities boasts advanced equipment. At our Dowlais site, we have a dedicated lab for all in house testing, dental suite, 2 theatres, separate dog and cat kennels, large prep area, isolation ward, ultrasound machine with cardiac probe, digital radiography. At Aberdare, we have Digital xrays, dental suite, separate dog/cat kennels and an ultrasound machine.

Our experienced team

Join a close-knit team that works together to provide the best care possible for our furry friends. Our team comprises of our CD (working towards a Small Animal Postgraduate certificate and carries out Orthopaedics) 3 experienced Vets, 6 RVNS, 1 SVN, 1 ANA and 6 supporting team members. Collaboration, teamwork, and camaraderie are the pillars of our vibrant workplace culture.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

  • 40 hours per week over 4 days, 8am - 6pm

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
