Job description

Find Your Future With Kernow Vets

Kernow Veterinary Group is looking for a small animal vet to join our team. This full-time role offers 40 hours over a 4-day week, promoting a great work/life balance. We are also open to part-time applicants.

Our team consists of 22 small animal vets across five sites, with a dedicated farm & equine team. We support our team with a range of specialties, including Ophthalmology, Dermatology, & Behaviour, and provide referral services in these areas.

All our sites are well-equipped for diagnostic and surgical services. We have our own OOH for in-patients, supported by an RVN and nursing staff 24/7, and collaborate with a neighboring practice for emergency night cover. The role includes contributing to the OOH rota, currently 1:10 weekends.

Our team offers clinical freedom and the opportunity to follow cases through, with some vets having been with us for over 30 years, alongside newer colleagues.

If you're considering relocating, get in touch! Cornwall offers excellent opportunities for outdoor activities like riding, cycling, surfing, and walking the coastline & moors. Good transport links are available, and we are part of the Vet GDP scheme and RVN training centres. We actively participate in the Cornwall Veterinary Association and have a young vet network.

We value our employees and invest in their wellbeing and development:

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays, plus extra for your birthday
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 confidential helpline)
  • Family-friendly policies including maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
  • £1250 CPD allowance with 40 hours paid CPD leave
  • Support for certificates and access to the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Online encyclopaedia access via Vetlexicon
  • Research funding opportunities
  • £1250 annual Care Fund
  • Infection Prevention and Control Programme
  • Quality Improvement Programme
  • Professional memberships including BVA and VDS cover
  • Company pension scheme with contributions from IVC Evidensia
  • Schemes supporting greener commutes
  • Voluntary benefits, discounts, and pet treatment discounts at our practices

We are committed to diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, including those with disabilities or long-term health conditions, and are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments during recruitment.
