Job description

Here at Berry House, we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic veterinary surgeon to join our team on a permanent basis. This role would suit an experienced vet who is confident with a mixture of both consulting and operating.

Work life balance that tips the scale

We are all about ensuring our staff get the perfect work life balance that suits their lifestyle which is why we allow our Vets, where possible, to choose their day off allowing 4d weekends to be taken without using any holiday! Our weekend rota is completed 6-12 months ahead and daily rotas are available 5 weeks in advance, so our staff can plan their time off.

Our full-time vets generally choose to work a 4-day week (10-hour days on shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm) with some Saturday mornings and weekend work. There is no standard OOH or telephone duties for this role although occasional requirement to care for low dependency boarders on a Sunday (not on Bank Holidays). We are also happy to accommodate part time applicants for this role who are looking to work 2 or 3 days per week.

About Berry House

We benefit from a main Practice in Hitchin with bonded clients many of whom are insured and members of our Healthcare Plan and a small branch surgery in neighbouring Shefford. Hitchin is located close to excellent transport links (main line railway into London, close to A1 and M1 motorways and within 20 mins of Luton Airport). Our practice has the full range of equipment including Laparoscopy, dental xray, in-house lab etc.

Become part of our wonderful and supportive team of experienced Vets, Registered Veterinary Nurses, and Support Staff some of whom are certificate holders.

Build your career around you

We are an established, friendly, and supportive practice in North Hertfordshire with direct rail links to London. We are a very experienced team including several certificate holders, full RVN team and support staff with a strong team ethos.

Equipment/service includes laparoscopy, digital radiography, echocardiology and comprehensive in-house lab. The practice has an active program of Quality Improvement driven by in-house analysis of working practices.

We are a busy practice with a high and varied caseload, which would suit someone who is keen to undertake further development. If this sounds like the type of practice for you - apply below!
