Alma Vets is a long-established and much-loved practice in the heart of Windsor, and we’re looking for a dedicated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team. With a loyal client base and a reputation built on generations of trusted care, this is an exciting opportunity to develop your career in a practice where high clinical standards and teamwork go hand in hand.
You’ll enjoy a well-balanced caseload with a mix of consultations and surgery, with a slight bias towards surgery. Thanks to our long-standing and loyal clients, the work is rewarding and varied. Our surgeries range from routine procedures such as lap spays and lump removals through to advanced cases including TECA, TTA, patella surgery, splenectomy, skin flaps, and ECC when needed.
To help you deliver your best, we provide all the tools you’d expect in a progressive practice, full lab facilities, dental and DR X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy (flexible and rigid), laparoscopy, rhinoscopy, TONO pen, orthopaedic equipment, a BOAS table, and we’re currently trialling innovative new laser technology.
You’ll be joining a team of seven vets, including one who has been with us for over 40 years, eight RVNs, and ten support staff including our practice manager. Our RVNs run their own consults and are fully involved in patient care, offering excellent support in all areas including surgery.
Professional development is at the heart of Alma Vets. Our team includes certificate holders in surgery, ultrasound, and feline medicine, with two more currently studying towards certificates in dentistry and medicine. As a training practice, we’re proud to support SVN development and provide GDP advisors for new graduates. If you’re working towards a certificate, or are interested in pursuing one, we’ll support you every step of the way. A surgical certificate (or an interest in working towards one) would be especially welcome.
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week across four days, with 1:3 Saturday mornings (8:30am-1pm) and on-call duties limited to inpatient care just one night per week. We’re committed to ensuring a rota that balances professional fulfilment with time for life outside of work.
