Job description

Salary up to £55,000 and up to £5,000 welcome bonus

Are you looking for a fulfilling veterinary role within a supportive, experienced team? At Cambridge Veterinary Group, we're excited to welcome a new colleague to our friendly, well-established practice in the heart of this vibrant and historic city. Whether you're looking to grow your clinical skills or simply want to be part of a welcoming and collaborative team, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

A Modern Practice with a Personal Touch

As a medium-sized, single-site practice, we take pride in delivering high-quality, personalised care to a loyal client base. Our modern facilities are thoughtfully designed to support both patient wellbeing and team efficiency. We have three bright consulting rooms, a dedicated prep area, separate cat and dog wards, an isolation unit, a fully equipped theatre, and an imaging room to ensure smooth case management.

We're a small animal practice with a varied caseload that includes cats, dogs, and a wide range of exotic species which is perfect for someone who enjoys diversity in their clinical day. Your role will be a balance of consulting and surgery, with just over half of your time spent building relationships with clients and their pets. Routine procedures and staged dentistry make up the majority of surgical cases, and more complex or orthopaedic procedures are referred as needed.

Teamwork That Makes a Difference

You'll be joining a close-knit team of seven vets, eight RVNs, and nine dedicated support staff. Among us, we hold four certificates and benefit from a wide range of clinical expertise, including in exotics, which we're well known for. Our nursing team plays a key role in patient care and practice life, running their own clinics that focus on everything from vaccinations and preventative healthcare to nutrition, senior pet support, and wellness checks.

We're proud of our collaborative and kind working culture. Clinical meetings, M&M reviews, and case discussions are all part of our routine, helping us maintain high standards and continuously learn from one another. We're also fortunate to host a visiting professor of ophthalmology who works closely with the team, providing mentorship and specialist insight.

Rooted in the Community

Giving back is something we're genuinely passionate about. We work closely with local animal welfare organisations including Cats Protection and the RSPCA, supporting pets and their owners across the wider community.

Fix or flex - work life balance that works for you

We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you.

This is a full-time position of four 10-hours days, a mixture of consults and surgery, with a share in the weekend rota of Saturday morning consultations and responsibility for any inpatient care over the weekend. An hour's lunch break is scheduled along with consults finishing 30 minutes before the end of the day. Out-of-hours care is provided by a local centre, there is no on-call.
