Job summary

Blake Vets in Burnham-on-Sea is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our caring team. You will deliver high-quality patient and client care across a varied caseload, while developing clinical skills and sharing knowledge with colleagues.

You’ll be supported with certificates, advanced training, and leadership opportunities to grow in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS.
  • Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you'll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
  • Continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues.
  • Contribute to the clinical culture of the practice and support ongoing development of team members.

Now, we're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon at our Burnham practice and help us continue that legacy. Alongside another vet on rotation, you'll have the autonomy to shape the service while knowing you have the backing of a wider team of certificate holders in medicine. You will also have the sound knowledge that we offer 24 hour inpatient care at our main branch where you can send emergency cases over.

Whether you're experienced or looking to develop, we'll support you with certificates, advanced training, and leadership opportunities.

Working Pattern

  • Flexible working - full or part-time options can be considered, tailored rotas
  • Fixed day off
  • No OOH - covered externally after 7pm
  • 4-day week averaging 38 hours, between Monday and Saturday.
