Are you a passionate veterinary surgeon seeking a fulfilling career with a supportive and friendly team? Town and Country Vets invites you to join us across our three well-equipped practices in Blackburn, Clayton-le-Moors, and Whalley.

What You’ll Do

You’ll enjoy a varied role combining consultations and surgeries, managing patient care from start to finish, including some sole charge duties. This is your chance to make a real impact—building trusted relationships with both clients and their pets.

Flexible Working to Fit Your Life

We appreciate the importance of work-life balance. Whether you prefer a set schedule or a flexible pattern, we’re happy to tailor arrangements to suit your lifestyle. Our full-time vets typically work four full days per week, have a weekday off, and join a Saturday rota (1 in 4/5 Saturdays) with a day off in lieu. Best of all? No out-of-hours or bank holiday shifts—helping you maintain a healthy work-life harmony. Part-time options are also welcome for the right candidate.

About Town and Country Vets

We are a first-opinion, small animal practice with three fantastic locations, all equipped with ultrasound, digital X-ray, and in-house blood analyzers. Situated in Blackburn, with excellent transport links to Manchester, Liverpool, and beyond, you’ll find plenty to enjoy outside work—from local gyms and amenities to countryside walks and the beautiful Lake District within easy reach.

Our emphasis on preventative healthcare and continuity of care means you’ll build meaningful, lasting connections with clients and patients. Our excellent Google reviews reflect the quality of care and community spirit we foster. At Town and Country Vets, we pride ourselves on being Lancashire’s family-focused practice that prioritises your wellbeing.

Meet the Team

Join a warm, welcoming team including 3 vets, a Clinical Director, 8 nurses, a VCA, 7 receptionists, and a Practice Manager. Many of our team have grown with us over the years, reflecting our culture of support and professional development.

“Town and Country is a great place to work. You’ll find a friendly and helpful bunch, with support from vets, nurses, reception, and management alike. Several staff have been with us for decades—some trained here and stayed, the longest being 30 years! I started on reception in 2006 and, after a short break, happily returned as Practice Manager in 2023. The team welcomed me back with open arms—it truly feels like family here.”

- Joanne Dolan, Practice Manager
