Job summary

Vets Now Southampton is seeking an experienced Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Surgeon to join our out-of-hours team. This part-time role involves a 4-week rolling rota with evening and weekend shifts, a chance to work with challenging cases, and a strong support network.

Qualifications

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with interest in emergency and critical care.
• Experience in out-of-hours/shift work is desirable.
• Ability to work as part of a dispersed ECC team and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the out-of-hours ECC team.
• Handle a diverse caseload with high-acuity emergencies.
• Collaborate with the veterinary team to provide continuous patient care.

Vets Now Southampton are welcoming out-of-hours (OOH) Veterinary Surgeon applications, from Vets with a passion for Emergency and Critical Care, to join their team. In this part-time role, the shifts available include the below on a 4-week rolling rota, plus a fair share of bank holidays.

Working out-of-hours doesn’t mean working all hours

1. *Week 1: Tuesday (19.00-23.00), Sunday (18.00-00.00)
2. *Week 2: Monday (19.00-23.00), Wednesday (19.00-23.00), Thursday (19.00-23.00), Sunday (18.00-00.00)
3. *Week 3: Sunday (18.00-00.00)
4. *Week 4: Monday (19.00-23.00), Tuesday (19.00-23.00), Wednesday (19.00-23.00), Thursday (19.00-23.00), Sunday (18.00-00.00)

How many of the available shifts to be worked in the rota can be discussed further. We will try to work around your lifestyle and clinic requirements.

As a backshift Vet you will often work as the second Vet on shift, providing an opportunity to share knowledge and work together on the more complex cases.
