An established industry player is seeking a dedicated veterinary professional to enhance animal welfare. In this part-time role, you will provide essential veterinary cover, support innovative animal care techniques, and collaborate with a team committed to animal welfare. Enjoy a flexible work schedule with minimal disturbances and a supportive environment focused on professional development. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact the lives of animals while maintaining a great work/life balance. If you are passionate about animal welfare and ready for new challenges, this is the perfect role for you.
You’ll have a great work/life balance here, we’re flexible with working times and you’ll have no out-of-hours emergencies. Unlike in traditional general practice, you won’t be involved in the daily interactions with animal owners. Instead, you can just concentrate on making a significant impact on animal welfare.
You’ll be providing veterinary cover for animal units and clinical services at our facilities, and crucial veterinary input across many areas of our operations. You’ll also support the implementation of new techniques, procedures, and technologies to enhance animal care and welfare.
You’ll collaborate with our Named Veterinary Surgeon to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines, and deputise for them as needed, supporting staff training and development.
You’ll help to promote a culture of care and professionalism within the company.
If you're passionate about animal welfare and eager to take on new challenges as part of a team dedicated to advancing science and improving lives, then this is the role for you.
You’ll need a Veterinary degree, professional registration with the RCVS and a commitment to ongoing professional development. You may have laboratory animal care experience, but it’s essential that you’re experienced in general practice, including surgical procedures and anaesthesia.
Although you need to be experienced in surgery, there is no surgery for you to complete; instead, you’re there to supervise, provide advice and help our onsite surgeons.
Interest or experience in animal ethics, welfare science, genetics, biomedical research or related disciplines is desirable.
You have excellent communication skills (fluent in spoken and written English), you’re able to produce reports in a professional language and can collaborate effectively with teams.
Based in Belton, near Loughborough.
This is a permanent, part-time role. The preference is for 4 days a week (however, we’re open to 3 days) working either 8-4 or 9-5 between Monday to Friday (with flexibility for the right person). There is some weekend on-call work on a rota (it’s rare, so you have very minimal disturbance).
Due to the nature of this role, candidates cannot have pet rodents (mice, rats or guinea-pigs) or rabbits for biosecurity reasons. Please make us aware if you have animals that feed on rodents (snakes, birds).
Candidates must be able to drive due to limited public transport.
