Job summary

Gainsborough Referrals in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, seeks a Veterinary Surgeon with a keen interest in diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia to join our specialised team. The role emphasises CT, MRI and referral medicine within a supportive, small‑animal referral setting.

You would contribute to imaging advancement, patient care and perioperative management, working Monday–Friday with no routine weekends, and a salary reflecting experience (£35k–£50k). All essential skills and growth are welcomed.

Qualifications

• RCVS registered
• Good general small animal clinical experience
• Comfortable with general anaesthesia and sedation
• Strong interest in diagnostic imaging
• Enjoy anatomy and diagnostic investigation
• Develop CT and MRI skills
• Would like to develop CT/MRI in a referral setting
• Postgraduate certificates in imaging or anaesthesia welcomed but not essential

Responsibilities

• Support and develop the diagnostic imaging service, focusing on CT and MRI.
• Prepare and position patients for CT and MRI examinations.
• Learn and develop MRI scanning using the O-Scan MRI system.
• Develop imaging protocols and ensure diagnostic-quality images.
• Work closely with referral clinicians to obtain necessary imaging.
• Assist with anaesthesia and clinical management of referral patients.
• Involve nursing team and other clinicians in patient admissions and care.
• Contribute to the growth of CT/MRI service as caseload expands.
