Permanent | 40 hours per week across four days
Build your hospital career around a varied caseload, advanced facilities and colleagues with a broad range of clinical interests. This hospital-based Veterinary Surgeon role offers the opportunity to manage emergency presentations and complex medical cases, while developing the areas of practice that matter most to you.
Our client is an established veterinary organisation, well known for its RCVS-accredited hospital in Brighton. With referrals from its branch network and neighbouring practices, the role offers clinical variety alongside experienced support.
You’ll assess, investigate and treat hospital patients, contribute to inpatient care and work closely with veterinary and nursing colleagues to deliver well-coordinated treatment. Clear communication with clients and referring practices will be central to your work, helping owners understand their pets’ conditions and make informed decisions about care.
The purpose-designed hospital provides CT, ultrasound, digital X-ray, laparoscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. Separate wards for cats, dogs, exotics, isolation and day procedures support care tailored to different species and clinical needs.
You’ll work alongside dedicated day and night veterinary teams, with certificate-holder expertise spanning emergency and critical care, medicine, surgery, cardiology, imaging, exotics and oncology. Regular visiting ophthalmology and orthopaedic support adds further clinical depth, while RVNs, laboratory and operational colleagues help support day-to-day patient care.
The organisation offers a supportive, collaborative environment, with clinical mentorship and support to develop individual interests. High standards of patient care sit alongside a focus on wellbeing, professional development and a sustainable work–life balance.
This role would suit an approachable, confident Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys hospital practice, communicates clearly and values working collaboratively. A commitment to thoughtful clinical decision-making, compassionate patient care and a high standard of client service will help you make a strong contribution.
The permanent position is 40 hours per week, worked across four days, with a set day off each week. The rota includes one full weekend in five, with a day off in lieu, and second on-call duties for one week in fifteen.
The salary is up to £57,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience.
