Job description

Veterinary Surgeon – Home Euthanasia (Flexible Hours & Work Patterns)
Location: North East. Newcastle / Teeside
Salary: £60,000 per annum (FTE), pro-rata based on hours worked

Are you a veterinary surgeon who’s ready for something different?

Maybe you're seeking more time with patients and clients, without the rush. Perhaps you're feeling the strain of traditional practice and want to reconnect with the reason you became a vet in the first place to truly help people and their animals, in a calm and meaningful way.

If you’re ready for a more fulfilling challenge, where compassion and care come first, this could be the perfect next step.

Our client is a family-run, independent veterinary home euthanasia service covering the North East of England. Since launching in 2021, they’ve grown through word-of-mouth and glowing client reviews, (Over 270 reviews on Google) enabling them to expand their compassionate and close-knit team.

They provide a gentle, dignified end-of-life experience for pets in the comfort and peace of their own home. Every visit is carried out with empathy, care and professionalism, ensuring families feel supported during one of life’s most emotional moments.

The Role

They are seeking a kind, experienced, and empathetic veterinary surgeon to join their team in a flexible, highly rewarding role. This position is ideal for someone looking to step away from the pace of traditional practice and focus on providing truly meaningful care. You will carry out peaceful home euthanasia appointments, helping pets and their families say goodbye in a calm and respectful environment.

This role offers a slower, more meaningful pace of work, allowing you to truly support clients during one of life’s most emotional moments.

You’ll work independently travelling to clients’ homes across the North East ideally around Newcastle / Teesside. The role offers flexibility in hours, with a preference for someone who can cover some weekends (ideally 2 per month in exchange for days in the week) and respond to occasional last-minute requests.

This position would suit a vet looking for a change of pace, more connection with clients, and deeply meaningful work without the pressures of a busy practice. Compassion, calmness, strong communication, and a genuine desire to help families say goodbye with dignity are essential.

They offer a competitive salary, a supportive team environment, truly rewarding work and the opportunity to make a deep and lasting impact on people and their pets
