A leading veterinary organization in the UK is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon for an emergency role. The position offers a competitive starting salary of £60,000 and numerous benefits including CPD allowance, professional memberships, and a supportive team environment. Ideal candidates will have experience in small animal emergencies and possess strong communication skills. Flexible working arrangements are available.
Be part of our phenomenal emergency team and expand your emergency and critical care skills, alongside our team of experienced and talented out-of-hours nurses and animal care assistants. You would work in our dedicated emergency hospital, which houses a large ICU with cutting-edge equipment, and would be responsible for running our first-opinion service and assisting our Referral Clinicians in providing high-quality care 24/7.
The role provides an excellent opportunity for candidates who have an interest in emergency and critical care (with many of our vets and nurses studying further qualifications in this area), due to the interesting and varied case-load from our 16 out-of-hour practices, and our fantastic Referral team. There is a great and diverse mixture of consulting, in-patient and critical care and emergency surgery and procedures, with opportunity to supplement this with CPD and journal clubs. The role is predominantly sole charge, but advice is always just a phone call away from our Referral Clinicians.
Our typical night vet rota consists of 7 nights on, and 14 nights off on a rolling basis, and we are currently looking to fulfil a 9 month fixed term contract. However, as a part of our commitment to support flexible working patterns, where appropriate, we would be happy to discuss alternative schedules.
Swift Referrals and Emergencies is a specialist-led referral and emergency hospital located on the outskirts of Wetherby in West Yorkshire, which offers an ideal place to explore more rurally, and with easy access to nearby cities York and Leeds.
You would become part of our large team of dedicated and talented veterinary professionals, including: our referral clinicians, which are led by two European Specialists; hospital clinicians who support our referral departments and run our out-of-hours service; nursing and ACA teams who provide high-quality care to our patients; and our client care team, who provide our clients with the best service.
We have a purpose-built intensive care unit, inside our emergency hospital, which houses all of the emergency equipment you would need including oxygen kennels, ICU bays and cots, a defibrillator and blood products. We also have extensive in-house laboratory facilities with tests such as blood gas, CSF cytospin, CRP and cortisol testing and coagulation profiles. Our diagnostic equipment includes a 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, 128 slice GE CT scanner, doppler ultrasound and endoscopy.
We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive salary, starting at £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience and shift pattern, you will benefit from:
