VetMatch is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to lead hospital care at an EMS, VetGDP and veterinary nurse training practice in the UK. You will oversee admitted patients, guide treatment plans, and collaborate with a dedicated team to maintain high standards of patient care and education across the hospital.
The role includes managing emergency and critical-care cases, supervising graduate vets, and ensuring consistent, quality care.
Are you an experienced veterinary surgeon who enjoys managing complex cases, maintaining high clinical standards and helping other vets grow in confidence?
This is a great opportunity to take on a rewarding hospital role within an RCVS-accredited independent practice, where patient care comes first, clinical judgement is respected and the owners remain closely involved in the day-to-day team.
The practice is independently owned, with vet owners working alongside the team. There are no corporate targets driving clinical decisions, allowing the focus to remain on patients, good medicine and doing the right thing.
They also have their own on-site out-of-hours team, helping provide continuity of care for hospitalised patients without requiring you to work the OOH rota yourself.
You’ll be taking a lead in the care of hospitalised patients, helping ensure cases are assessed thoroughly, treatment plans are appropriate and standards of care remain consistently high.
Your responsibilities will include:
This would suit a clinician who enjoys taking ownership of cases, working collaboratively with a wider team and sharing their knowledge to help colleagues develop.
You’ll have the opportunity to manage hospitalised patients, support emergency and critical-care cases, and oversee outpatient diagnostic imaging. The practice also aims to retain procedures in-house, giving the team exposure to a varied caseload.
The practice is an EMS, VetGDP and veterinary nurse training practice, with an active approach to quality improvement. You’ll be joining an environment where sharing knowledge, developing colleagues and continually improving clinical standards are part of the culture.
If you're looking for a part-time hospital position where you can use your experience, support developing vets and help shape high standards of patient care within an independent team, this is worth a conversation.
