Veterinary Surgeon – Biggleswade, Bedfordshire
About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive and experienced small animal practice in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.

The role offers full-time or part-time flexibility, with a salary of up to £70,000 FTE, depending on experience.

Full-time hours are 39 hours per week, with alternative part-time patterns of 34 or 24 hours per week available. The role includes 1 in 4 weekends and no OOH, offering an excellent balance between clinical development and personal time.

This is a varied first-opinion role with an approximately 50% surgical and 50% medical caseload, including occasional orthopaedic cases and some sole-charge responsibility.

About the Practice

The practice provides a modern, air‑conditioned and purpose‑built clinical environment, supported by an experienced veterinary and nursing team.

The successful Veterinary Surgeon will work alongside a Clinical Lead, Graduate Vet, regular locum support, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Veterinary Nurses and an experienced reception team.

The team has a broad range of clinical interests, including ophthalmology, and actively encourages colleagues to develop their own areas of expertise.

Facilities include ultrasound, tonometry, digital X‑ray and K‑Laser, with alternative therapies such as acupuncture also available and encouraged where appropriate.

The practice is ideally located close to the A1, approximately 40 minutes from Cambridge, with convenient access to Luton Airport and direct rail connections to central London.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a Veterinary Surgeon with strong all-round general practice skills, including confidence in both medical and surgical cases.

They should be comfortable taking some sole‑charge responsibility and enjoy the variety that comes with first‑opinion practice.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients, patients and colleagues are essential.

The practice welcomes both experienced vets and candidates with developing areas of interest, with CPD and certificate support available to help them progress.
