Job summary

Prospect Health is assisting an independent veterinary practice in Wirral to recruit a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon. You will have genuine clinical freedom and manage a varied caseload with the support of an experienced, close-knit team.

The role offers a competitive salary up to £60,000 DOE, private medical insurance, a company pension and funded CPD. You will work regular hours with no out-of-hours commitments and opportunities to work with exotics.

Qualifications

• BVSc or equivalent qualification recognised in the UK.
• RCVS registered (or eligible).
• Previous experience in small animal practice (new graduates are not being considered).
• Confident with both medicine and routine surgery.
• Strong communication and client care skills.
• Enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
• Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality first-opinion veterinary care.
• Manage a varied caseload of consultations, medical work-ups and surgery.
• Perform routine and more advanced surgical procedures with dedicated operating sessions.
• Work cases through from initial consultation to discharge.
• Care for inpatients.
• Undertake occasional home visits where appropriate.
• Support and mentor students and less experienced colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with an experienced veterinary and nursing team.

Key Duties

Working Pattern

Full-time role. Typical working hours: 9:00am – 6:00pm. Approximately 6 Saturdays per year. No out-of-hours. Dedicated operating days built into the rota. Minimal sole charge responsibilities.
