Our Client is a corporately owned practice seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their well-established team. This opportunity is ideal for a Vet looking to take on a Senior or Clinical Lead role with strong support, clinical freedom, and a varied caseload.
The role is ideally suited to someone seeking 3-4 days per week, with working hours of 9am-7pm. Weekends are on a 1:4 rota, with no out-of-hours requirements and minimal bank holiday commitments, ensuring a balanced lifestyle.
The practice has proudly served the local community for over 10 years and is supported by a friendly, collaborative team including 3 Vets (one of whom is a recent graduate), 4 Nurses, a Student Nurse, 2 VCAs, 4 Receptionists, and a Practice Manager. The team works closely with a visiting certificate holder in small animal surgery, enabling a wide variety of surgical cases. Regular clinical meetings, in-house CPD, and a supportive, close-knit culture encourage collaboration and high standards of care. The team also enjoys regular social gatherings, fostering a strong community spirit.
The Veterinary Surgeon will handle a varied first opinion caseload including consults, routine procedures, and emergency surgery. Surgical responsibilities may include neutering, mass removals, dentistry, ophthalmic surgery, wound management, and emergency procedures such as pyometra, caesareans, foreign bodies, and cystotomies. The role allows for clinical freedom and the opportunity to grow into a leadership position while working alongside a supportive and engaged team.
Applicants should be RCVS-registered with at least 3-4 years' experience in UK small animal practice. The ideal candidate will be confident with routine surgeries and consultations, possess excellent communication skills, and have a genuine passion for animal welfare and patient care. Those seeking a Clinical Lead or Senior Veterinary Surgeon position are strongly encouraged to apply.
The practice is equipped with an in-house laboratory, ultrasound, digital x-ray, multiparameter monitoring, and full surgical facilities. The presence of a visiting surgical certificate holder further enhances the scope of available surgical procedures, including orthopaedics.
Staff are actively encouraged to pursue and develop their own clinical interests, with support and funding available for further study. The practice also benefits from the additional support of a nearby sister branch, ensuring clinical back-up and shared expertise.
