Job description

We are a growing standalone practice located in a stunning coastal area, with low staff turnover, and we are always looking for local veterinary talent.

  • The practice is in a fantastic location with excellent public transport access.
  • Work-life balance is a priority, with only Monday to Friday shifts, no weekends or Bank holidays.
  • Holidays are provided, with no Out of Hours (OOH) work.
  • The practice is known for its longstanding staff, some of whom have been with us since opening.
  • We focus on staff growth and development, with several team members starting as Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs) and staying on after qualification.
  • The practice is a five-minute walk from the beach.
  • The team has a family-like atmosphere and enjoys social activities, including regular hikes with their dogs.
  • Staff well-being is prioritized, with daily meetings for work discussions or social catch-ups.

About us:

The practice is jointly owned by Vet Dan and Head Veterinary Nurse Michelle, who is certified in anaesthesia. They are supported by a team of two Vets, three RVNs, and two SVNs, along with a front-of-house team that allows vets to focus on clinical work.

Our nurses are actively involved in patient care and help reduce vets' workload, undertaking as much Schedule 3 work as possible. We are seeking a vet interested in coaching new graduates, as we are passionate about developing future veterinary talent.

Many of our staff have been with us for over seven years, reflecting our supportive environment.

Located on St Andrews Road North in Lytham, our practice is in the heart of St Annes on Sea on the Fylde Coast, just a few miles south of Blackpool. It's an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts and is within an hour and a half of Manchester and Liverpool city centers for those interested in city life.

The practice is a spacious, standalone facility with three consultation rooms and a separate x-ray room, conveniently situated opposite the train station for public transport users.

The role:

We are open to hearing from local veterinary professionals at all stages of their careers. Whether you're an experienced vet looking to mentor and lead or someone seeking support for a specialist qualification, we encourage you to get in touch.

We run 15-minute appointments, finish surgeries by 1:30 pm, and ensure protected lunch breaks. We are committed to providing excellent patient care, with facilities for dental X-rays and stage all dentals, supported by nurses who assist with scaling, probing, and polishing. We are expanding our orthopedic caseload, including TPLOs and cruciate repairs, and welcome interest in pursuing specific areas of expertise.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary
  • 5.6 weeks holiday including bank holidays (increasing after 2 years)
  • Private Healthcare contribution
  • Life Assurance (4x annual salary)
  • Contributory Pension Scheme
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
  • Dedicated CPD allowance
  • Funding and support for Certificates
  • No Out of Hours work
  • Relocation allowance*
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Access to well-being programs (Retail Trust, Port of Call, MHFA)
  • Exclusive discounts (e.g., 20% off at Pets at Home, The Groom Room, Vet Group)

*For direct candidates only.
