Job Description

Our Client is a corporately owned practice seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their growing multi-site team based in the North East of England.

The Rota

This is a full-time position based on a 40-hour week, including a 1 in 4 Saturday rota. There are no OOH responsibilities. Part-time or flexible working arrangements may also be considered for the right candidate.

The Practice

This RCVS-accredited practice operates across four sites, with the main branch located in a coastal town and the others based in surrounding areas. The team is led by Clinical Directors and a supportive Practice Manager. The veterinary team includes certificate holders in surgery, dentistry, imaging, cardiology, and minimally invasive surgery. The nursing team features RVNs, VCAs, and ANAs, including those with certificates in medicine and anaesthesia.

The practice is currently planning an exciting relocation and expansion of its main site, which will include the addition of CT imaging. All sites are already well-equipped and provide a high standard of patient care in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will carry out a mix of consultations and surgeries with the opportunity to take on more senior responsibilities if desired, such as mentoring junior vets and supporting the VetGDP programme. Good diary management allows for 20-minute consults, dedicated time for emergencies, and time during the day for admin and client communication.

The Ideal Candidate

The practice is ideally looking for a Vet with at least 3 years’ experience who is confident with both consultations and routine surgery. Experience with sole charge is also required. Those interested in taking on a leadership or mentorship role are encouraged to apply. Strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and confidence handling more complex cases and conversations are essential.

Equipment

Facilities across the sites include ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray, endoscopy, and laparoscopy, with CT to be added soon at the main hospital.
