Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Vet to join our team!

Our practice is an RCVS registered hospital and surgery, split over two sites on the Norfolk/Suffolk coast. The area is within the Norfolk Broads and offers beautiful surroundings whilst maintaining a reasonable commute to London. We provide a Minightvet ECC Out of Hours service, providing 24-hour onsite care for our patients.

This position is working full time across 4 or 5 days a week. Shifts are between 7:30 am - 7:30 pm, typically 8:30 am - 6:30 pm. We are a large team across our two sites, with certificate holders in surgery and imaging and a reputation for supporting and funding CPD and further development. We host laparoscopic training days for vets in neighbouring sites and have a fantastic array of equipment and facilities.

We have a visiting Cardiologist and the following equipment/facilities available:

  • Radioactive iodine unit
  • Four fully equipped theatres
  • Full orthopaedic kit including TPLO and TTA plates
  • Laparoscopic spay kit
  • Ultrasound and Echocardiography at each site
  • EPOC, lactate, blood/plasma storage site for pet blood bank
  • Video-assisted bronchoscopy/endoscopy
  • DR X-ray system
  • Elixir kit for toxicology emergencies
  • Separate dog/cat kennels and large, well-equipped isolation facilities
  • Fully equipped onsite lab, including endocrine testing

Development of our people is important, and we'd be keen to support you with any areas of interest. Anyone working towards or interested in a surgical or medicine certificate would complement the team very well, but this is not essential.

Please also speak to us if you need to work more flexibly. We are open to understanding your personal circumstances and have veterinary surgeons working part-time, rotational shift patterns, and are always considering how to support you as an individual.

Our benefits include:

  • Salary up to £50k FTE depending on experience
  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (or equivalent) with our Buy/Sell holiday scheme - allowing you to purchase an additional four weeks of annual leave
  • Generously encouraged and fully funded CPD - abundant opportunities within the business aided by internal and external development courses and programmes
  • Receive an extra day's leave each year in your first 5 years at CVS
  • RCVS, VDS, and subscription fees paid
  • Cycle to work scheme and subsidised gym membership
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity, and Adoption pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Pension scheme - automatic enrolment and hassle-free
  • Access to First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions across CVS and 300 trained CVS colleagues in this role
  • Colleague discount on pet products and treatments, including free consults, cost-price drugs, and a discount on our online pharmacy, Animed
  • Access to the company share-save scheme

CVS is committed to being a fully inclusive place to work, where all colleagues are encouraged and supported to be themselves, where differences are celebrated, and where everyone feels able to deliver their best. We are also dedicated to building a workforce that is more representative of our diverse communities and the people we serve.
