Job description

About Us

We are a long-established, proudly independent practice in the centre of beautiful Edinburgh. We have a friendly, welcoming team providing a supportive environment for all staff to thrive. We enjoy a good working atmosphere and have many long-standing team members.

We encourage case workups to a high standard and are continually investing in the newest equipment to assist our vets. We offer Karl Storz laparoscopy, video endoscopy, doppler ultrasound, ECG, digital dental x-ray, Tonopen, slit lamp, full in-house laboratory with IDEXX Procyte and Catalyst analysers and DR x-ray equipment. Our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience including a certificate holder in endosurgery, and special interests in ophthalmology and ultrasound. We are happy to mentor new vets to develop their skills and passions.

We have achieved the RCVS Practice Standard Scheme accreditation for all four of our branches throughout the city.

We hold regular team meetings to keep up to date with new ideas and protocols, and to strive for continued clinical excellence. We also have regular social events to let our hair down and have shared meals, drinks, ten pin bowling and trips to ‘escape rooms’. A Friday lunchtime pizza takeaway is always well received!

We have 4 branches in the centre of Edinburgh. Edinburgh is a historic, beautiful city with a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere. There is a world-famous annual comedy and arts festival in August and the legendary Hogmanay new year celebrations. Within a few miles of the city are the beaches of East Lothian and the rolling Pentland hills.

The Role

The position is a 4-day working week, with only a 1 in 6 weekend rota comprising Saturday morning consultations (9 am to 12 pm) with inpatient care if needed. There is no out-of-hours work (covered by Evets our local provider).

We are looking for a vet with some experience, with good communication and teamwork skills. The ability to connect and bond with our clients is essential. An enthusiasm to further develop their skills and personal goals is also required.

The Package

  • £40,000 to£70,000 depending on experience
  • 6 weeks holiday plus your birthday off
  • Private health insurance
  • Employers contributing pension
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • CPD encouraged and funded with no upper limit for the right course
  • Cost price veterinary care for staff pets
