Job Description

Introduction

Our Client’s practice in Cardiff is seeking a Weekend Veterinary Surgeon to support a new service designed to extend weekend availability for clients and patients. Based in the Llandaff North area, this role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to be a key part of an enhanced care initiative in a vibrant and accessible part of the city.

Working Hours / Rota

This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling options. You can choose to work sole charge on Saturdays and Sundays (9am–5pm) or combine a weekend day with a weekday. The position includes no on-call or bank holiday commitments.

Role Description

This role is perfect for a Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in ECC and weekend consulting. You will manage consultations and procedures during your shifts, supported by an experienced Veterinary Nurse. You’ll have access to strong clinical systems and linked histories across branches. The wider weekday team includes a passionate Branch Partner and supportive colleagues. The role allows you to make a meaningful impact on patient care while enjoying a flexible, part-time structure.

Team Size

You will work independently on weekends alongside an experienced RVN but be supported by a wider weekday team led by a committed Branch Partner. The structure promotes autonomy with backup from a well-connected clinical network.

Practice Details

The practice is well-equipped to support both consultations and procedures. Located conveniently near Cardiff city centre, with a train station behind the practice and access to the M4, the clinic also benefits from an extended regional network for case continuity. The practice’s clinical management system is fully integrated for efficient care and history access.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with experience in ECC or sole charge work. Strong communication, clinical independence, and a patient-first mindset are essential. Candidates should be proactive, organised, and capable of delivering consistent care in a weekend-focused format.
