Location: Cambridgeshire

Role Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 42 hours, 4 day week, 1 in 4 weekends with 2 days back in lieu.

Salary: From £52,000 depending on experience.

At Village Vet Milton, you can join a primary care hospital that’s different!

Are you a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a unique opportunity amongst a highly experienced, successful team? If so, this rare opportunity is not to be missed.

We are one of the very few practices in Cambridgeshire accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a Tier 3 Hospital. Our clinical team offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services with a fully dedicated OOH team.

With multiple certificate holders, including 4 x Advanced Practitioner ECC vets, this team boasts career development and will invest in you. Winners of the 2023 team 'Quality' award across the entire Linnaeus estate, this hospital is a progressive, exciting, and brilliant place to be.

Why join us:

- Comprehensive Patient Care: Follow your patient's journey. At Milton, we manage our own OOH services on site, allowing you to follow your patient's case throughout their journey. This continuity of care is integral to our commitment to providing exceptional veterinary services.

- A Diverse Clinical Experience: You'll encounter an exciting range of cases that cover the full spectrum of primary care. Our practice offers the opportunity to do everything you can in primary care; from routine procedures to more advanced treatments and management. The diversity of cases keeps the work environment fast paced and engaging, providing ample opportunities to learn from our experienced veterinarians and further develop your skills.

- Not your average first opinion site - we keep intensive cases in-house and we work to the very top of what the profession can do in primary care so that our patients get the very highest standard of care, all under one roof.

- An Energetic and Confident Team: We value team members who bring energy, confidence, and a proactive approach to their work. At Milton, you'll never be bored; our varied caseload and supportive environment encourage constant learning and growth. We seek individuals who are confident in their abilities and eager to partner with the team to work proactively and support one another in a truly collaborative manner.

- Prime Location and Accessibility: Located close to Cambridge, Milton offers both the feel of a smaller community and the convenience of city access. The practice is just 20-minute walk (5-minute drive) from Cambridge North train station, making it easily accessible for those commuting or exploring the area. There is also plenty of parking spaces on site.

The Role

This dynamic and exciting role will include consulting, surgery and hospital days. You will work closely with our existing team, including our OOH team, vet24, to provide around the clock care of an outstanding standard for a primary care practice. We have medicine and ECC certificate holders, and a reputation for excellent diagnostic imaging. We are well equipped to perform routine and ECC surgery and have also established a laparoscopic spay service over the last year. We have vets working towards surgery and cardiology certificates and work very much on an evidenced-based, continuing learning approach as a team.

Rota: 42 hours over 4 routine weekdays, regular routine day off. Predictable pattern of rota, usually working 8.30-7pm. 1 in 4 weekends, with an additional day off the week beforehand and afterwards. This allows 2 x 3 day weeks, and 2 x 4 days weeks in a 4 week cycle.
