Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming and collaborative teams across Medivet Buxton and New Mills in the heart of Derbyshire’s stunning countryside. This part-time position (28 hours across 4 days, between the hours of 9:00-17:00, with no regular weekends, out of hours or bank holidays required) offers the perfect blend of variety, clinical autonomy and community-focused care.

The role will be primarily based at our Buxton practice - a quiet, growing branch that currently opens two days a week, with plans to expand to four days as the team grows with your assistance, this is an exciting opportunity to help mould the path Buxton takes and put your stamp on a Medivet practice. You’ll work in a one-vet, one-nurse setup, allowing you to take real ownership of your cases while building close relationships with a loyal client base. Your day will typically include morning consultations, followed by a surgical procedure such as neutering, dentals or lump removals, with further consults in the afternoon. Support is always available via our New Mills site and wider network, and as we continue to expand the Buxton branch, you'll play a key role in shaping its success.

Alongside your work at Buxton, you’ll spend one to two days a week at Medivet New Mills - a busier, fully equipped practice just a short drive away. Here, you'll have access to a wider caseload, a full diagnostic suite including x-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy, and the chance to collaborate with an experienced team. Working between the two locations gives you a great balance of independence and team support, with the freedom to follow cases through and gain more exposure to a range of procedures, developing clinically and operationally.

Your Skills and Experience:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
  
• Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  
• Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  
• Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  
• Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
  
• Experience of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures, with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
  
• Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
