Overview

We are hiring! Here at Stocks Vets, we are looking for a friendly and approachable Veterinary Receptionist to join our friendly team at our two-branch small animal veterinary practice on a part-time basis for 6 months. The role will primarily be based at our Lower Wick branch in Upton-upon-Severn branch (WR8 0LF), with some shifts at our Worcester (WR2 4BS).

Shift patterns

The shift patterns include either 07:50am - 16:50pm or 10:00am - 19:00pm with an hour off for lunch. These shifts are shared fairly between the receptionists. Shift times and locations may vary on occasion depending on the needs of the business.

Current Saturday shifts:

  • Upton-upon-Severn - 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 08:30 - 13:00
  • Lower Wick - 1 in 11 Saturday mornings 08:30 - 13:00
  • Total is approximately 17 Saturday mornings per year, for which time-off-in lieu is built into the rota.

As a Veterinary Receptionist you will play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the veterinary practice. You must be, perceptive, dynamic and proactive. Experience of working within a veterinary practice is strongly desirable. Specific responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Answering the telephone and dealing with emails.
  • Greeting clients and their pets.
  • Processing medication and food orders.
  • Booking appointments and diary management.
  • Dispensing prescribed medication.
  • Taking payments and dealing with account enquiries.
  • Placing stock orders and assisting with dispensary organisation and management.
  • General administrative work including accurate record keeping and filing.
  • Cleaning duties to maintain a tidy reception, waiting area, dispensary and staff areas.
  • Giving pet care advice within the remit of the receptionist role and referring queries to nurses and vets when necessary.
  • Liaising with the vets, nursing team, other receptionists and wider admin team.
  • Dealing with upset clients in difficult circumstances.
Our ideal candidate

We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and empathetic. You must have the ability to multi-task and prioritise, have excellent customer service and communication skills, strong organisational and administrative skills. You must also be computer literate, especially microsoft programmes, have an excellent telephone manner and be a committed team player, willing to work with and support other staff. GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English is also required as well as a full UK driving license.
