We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a Veterinary Receptionist / Patient Care Assistant at West End Vets.

Location: Edinburgh

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 30 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday with a share in the Saturday rota

About the role:

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Answering phones and booking appointments
  • Responding to queries via phone, in person, and email
  • Registering new clients
  • Completing insurance forms
  • Dispensing medications
  • Taking payments
  • Nursing care to patients
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
  • Cleaning, walking, and feeding patients
  • Preparing emergency and operating facilities
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Running internal lab samples
  • Providing a warm and welcoming experience to clients arriving at the practice

What we're looking for in our Veterinary Receptionist:

  • Previous Receptionist experience is essential; veterinary experience is a plus!
  • Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating, handling, and understanding how to meet animals' welfare needs
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience dealing with the public
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database management systems
