Cave Veterinary Specialists have an exciting opportunity as they are recruiting for a motivated and experienced Patient Care Assistant to join their team! In this role you will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills working in a referral hospital. Patient Care Assistant's are an essential part of the Practice Team. Working alongside the clinical team and the client care team, the ideal candidate will have a good background in animal handling, with previous veterinary care experience preferred.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months with potential to extend.

High standards of patient care and premises management need to be maintained at all times, and the PCAs are key to achieving this.

The right candidate will have an Animal Care qualification and want to ensure the highest standard of care is provided for our patients and clients. The role is varied, but includes:

  • Rotate through all areas of the hospital, including wards prep and theatre
  • Giving oral medication under supervision
  • Completing paperwork to ensure accurate monitoring of all in-patient care
  • Appropriate husbandry and care of patients, as directed
  • Deep Cleaning kennels, the hospital and other practice areas
  • Operating the laundry equipment
  • Checking stock levels and ordering supplies as necessary
  • Supporting the Clinical and Reception team
  • Supporting nurse team as required

Shifts will be 8 hours between the hours of 7am and 8pm

40 hour/week 1:7 night shifts (5 nights, Monday-Friday 7am-7pm)

1:7 weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 9am-6pm) Bank Holidays on a rota basis.
