Part Time Out of Hours Veterinary Nurse – Manchester

Up to £17ph DOE plus benefits and a 10% bonus for working OOH

Vets Now are the UK’s leading provider of emergency pet care. Due to continued growth in our state-of-the-art 24/7 hospital, we are looking to add a dedicated and adaptable Veterinary Nurse to the existing out-of-hours team. Our out-of-hours team is here to provide an emergency service at nights, weekends and bank holidays to ensure continuity of care for inpatients that have been seen by our referral team.

Understanding your key role

This role will give you the opportunity to deal with a wide range of emergency and critical care cases as well as monitoring patients from our referral services. You will rotate through the different disciplines of ICU, Triage and Wards. Your role will include:

Triage: Conduct initial assessments of incoming emergency cases, prioritising patients based on their severity and assisting in stabilising critical patients upon their arrival.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Provide specialised care for critically ill animals, monitor vital signs and assisting Veterinary Surgeons in complex medical procedures and resuscitation efforts.

Wards: Deliver comprehensive inpatient care, including administering medications, managing feeding schedules, and ensuring a comfortable environment for recovering animals from both the emergency and referral services.

Potential candidates will be passionate about the care they deliver and have a real enthusiasm for learning with the ability to work within a fast-paced emergency service.

Key requirements

  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months.
  • Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.
  • Passionate about caring for our clients and their pets.
  • Experience with an ECC caseload is advantageous.

Working pattern

3 shifts on / 6 shifts off working 11-hour shifts on rotation through 20:00 to 07:00, 19:30 to 06:30 and 19:00 to 06:00
