Job summary

Vetted Recruitment Limited is seeking a compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our Newcastle-based team. The role covers both routine and emergency care for small animals with a supportive environment.

You will work four days a week on a locally agreed rota plus one Saturday morning in four, with opportunities to develop nurse-led clinics and contribute to high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Qualified Veterinary Nurse eligible to register with the RCVS.
• Strong nursing skills across inpatient, surgical, and routine care.
• Experience with client communication and care planning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to inpatients and surgical patients.
• Dispense medications as directed by the Veterinary Surgeon.
• Conduct nurse consultations and clinics.
• Monitor and care for hospitalised patients.
• Assist with radiography procedures.
• Maintain anaesthesia and assist during surgery.
• Prepare laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
• Support reception duties including booking and payments.
• Deliver excellent customer service and educate clients.
• Promote animal welfare and responsible pet care.

Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and friendly environment?

This role offers the chance to join a dedicated team that prioritises high standards of nursing care for small animals, ensuring both routine and emergency cases are handled with the utmost professionalism.

In this role, you will be primarily based at their main site based in Newcastle, with occasional support at their branch. The position involves working full-time, four days a week on a locally agreed rota, plus one in four Saturday mornings. This schedule provides a balanced work-life dynamic while allowing you to engage deeply with your patients and their owners.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to inpatients and surgical patients
• Dispense medications as directed by the Veterinary Surgeon
• Conduct nurse consultations and clinics
• Monitor and care for hospitalised patients
• Assist with radiography procedures
• Maintain anaesthesia and assist the Veterinary Surgeon during surgical procedures
• Prepare laboratory samples for external testing and perform in-house laboratory diagnostics
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
• Support reception duties when required, including appointment booking, payment processing, and client communication
• Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with clients
• Promote animal welfare and educate clients on responsible pet care

Skills and experience:

• Confident in all core aspects of veterinary nursing
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Experience developing and running nurse-led clinics (desirable)
• Experience processing insurance claims (desirable)
• Clinical coaching qualification or experience supporting student nurses (desirable)
