Job summary

Dogs Trust in Newbury is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our Veterinary Team at the rehoming centre. The role is 30 hours per week, with a pattern including Tuesdays and Fridays 8am–4.30pm and flexibility on other days.

You will help provide excellent veterinary care, support routine procedures, and assist with transfers to local vets. A full induction is provided, and a UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Nurse with UK recognition.
• Experience with dogs and welfare focus preferred.
• Ability to support staff and maintain patient care standards.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the rehoming centre team to provide veterinary care and welfare for dogs.
• Assist with routine veterinary care, maintain clinical protocols, and support transfers to/from local veterinary surgery.
• Provide veterinary assistance guidance to the centre team and occasional staff training.

Veterinary Nurse (30 hours per week)

Are you a Vet Nurse who is passionate about animal welfare, loves dogs and is looking for an excellent work life balance?

We are seeking a registered Vet Nurse to join the Veterinary Team based in our rehoming centre.

The working pattern for this role will include Tuesdays and Fridays between 8am until 4.30pm with flexibility the other days worked.

What does this role do?

As Vet Nurse, you will:

• work closely with the Dogs Trust rehoming centre team to help provide excellent veterinary care and welfare to our dogs,
• be involved with routine veterinary care, maintaining clinical protocols, assisting with the transfer of dogs to/from the local veterinary surgery and providing post-surgery care,
• be a point of contact regarding veterinary assistance for the centre team, helping to ensure that protocols are adhered to by providing informal, occasional training to staff.

Could this be you?

To be successful in this role you will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with an appreciation of handling dogs in accordance with Dogs Trust guidelines, using positive reinforcement techniques. Experience of working in a rehoming/charity establishment would be desirable, but a full induction is provided. You will be able to show empathy and understanding towards both dogs and people and be committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care and customer service. You will also need a full, clean UK driving licence.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for 26 October at Newbury Rehoming Centre.
