We have a unique opportunity for an RVN to join our dedicated, experienced and fun nursing team at Medivet Richmond. The hours for this position are variable (7.30-4 pm or 12-8.30 pm shifts) with a fulltime rota that will alternate with the two shifts.

We are seeking someone who is pro-active and wishes to be part of a busy hospital. Successful applicants will support: nursing of inpatients, nurse clinics, ultrasonography, radiography, advanced CT, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery and more. The ideal candidate will be confident to support hospital patients, build rapport with clients and be comfortable with assisting on surgeries depending on the needs of the team.

We are an RCVS practice standards accredited small animal hospital, with emergency and critical care accreditation.

You’ll be joining an established friendly team with many of the team working for over 10 years at the hospital. The team currently consists of 7 day vets, 3 night vets, 7 day RVNs, 2 night RVNs, 3 SVNs, 4 VCAs and 5 CCAs. We’re also a registered nurse training practice and graduate vet residency provider.

Facilities and equipment include: CT scanner, ultrasound, digital x-ray, endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery, well equipped laboratory, laser surgery, MLS laser, dedicated cat ward and theatre, dedicated staff room.

The practice is situated in South West London, close to beautiful Kew Gardens and Richmond Park. Easy access to central London. There is free parking a short walk away and good road links with M3 and M4 close by. Mainline rail services, London Overground and underground within walking distance. On busy bus routes.

This role will be full-time covering 40 hours per week, with one in 6 weekends.

Role Accountabilities

In This Role You Will

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
  • Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
  • Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills And Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience of supporting Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
