National Veterinary Associates in Plymouth is offering an externship for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. This opportunity features hands-on learning in a supportive environment, exposure to exotic animals, and mentorship from experienced staff, including founder and MDVM. Eligible students will receive a travel/living expense stipend, along with the chance to work within a culture committed to treating clients’ pets like family. Job description

About the Externship

We are a small practice that has a loyal client following and has been established in the community for many years. The work is interesting as we see exotic animals and have a very experienced staff to learn from. Our MDVM loves to teach and is a good mentor, and she works with the zoo in South Bend and is part of the community here in Plymouth. We can offer a good environment for hands‑on learning and provide valuable experience to any extern. We have a great culture and aspire to treat our clients’ pets the way we treat our own pets.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories
• Perform physical examinations
• Create treatment plans
• Perform diagnostics
• Provide dentistry services
• Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures
• Manage medical care of patients
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients

Duration

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Seven Oaks Veterinary Clinic are designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.

Eligibility and Stipend
