Overview

We are thrilled to invite applications from experienced candidates seeking to join our team of Veterinary Care Assistants at Pride Referrals, Derby. As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our veterinary team to ensure the well-being and comfort of our patients. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with veterinarians and veterinary nurses, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

Our diagnostics and treatments are second to none and we have many highly trained and experienced colleagues to ensure that our patients receive the very best treatment. We strive to deliver world class patient care and our fantastic facilities provide a superb care environment, including 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, full advanced imaging suite, 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool and treadmills and dedicated chemo & radio-iodine treatment rooms define the setting.

Responsibilities
  • Work in the busy wards department, a fast-paced area of the hospital dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to hospitalised patients.
  • Assist the team with daily tasks such as restraining patients for examinations and medication administration.
  • Create care plans, maintain hospital cleanliness, walk dogs, and feed patients.
  • Enhance animal handling skills and expand veterinary care knowledge.

Working Pattern

The hours for this role are Monday to Friday with shifts between 7am and 9pm. There are no weekends or OOHs, but the successful applicant will be expected to participate in a bank holiday rota, which may include working 1–2 bank holidays per year.
