We are seeking a fantastic individual to join us as a Veterinary Lab Technician at Hamilton Specialist Referrals. You will be responsible for performing various tests and analyses on animal samples. Your work will support veterinarians in diagnosing and treating animal patients. This role is perfect for a veterinary care assistant with laboratory experience or an interest in developing those skills.
Your duties
You will process samples, maintain laboratory equipment, manage inventory, and ensure that tests are conducted accurately and efficiently. You will also be responsible for sending samples to external laboratories when necessary.
The laboratory technician role is part of our wider team of 9 veterinary care assistants, working closely with vets and nurses to support our hospital's functions.
Additional responsibilities include supporting our Dispensary Veterinary Nurse with stock control and contributing to infection control within the hospital as part of the infection control committee.

Experience in a veterinary care assistant role with laboratory testing is advantageous. You should be a team player, capable of coordinating between specialists, interns, and nurses to ensure efficient lab processes. High standards in Infection Control, attention to detail, and the ability to work thoroughly in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Shift pattern
This full-time role involves 40 hours per week on a rota, covering various 8-hour shifts over 5 days, including OOH shifts.
