Job summary

St Mary’s Vets Ferndown is seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant to support the clinical team in delivering high standards of patient and client care. You’ll assist with inpatient care, patient handling and maintaining a clean, safe practice.

This full-time role is 40 hours per week, with some late shifts until 6:45pm and one in 3 Saturdays from 8:30am to 12:30pm. A friendly, collaborative team and structured development opportunities are on offer.

Qualifications

• Caring, professional approach with a genuine interest in animal welfare.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with clients and colleagues.
• Good teamwork and collaborative working style.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage tasks in a busy practice.
• Proactive attitude to learning and development.
• Experience with animals in clinical or non-clinical settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support reception and cover during annual leave when required.
• Assist the nursing team with care and monitoring of patients.
• Help with patient handling and restraint under supervision.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the practice.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment.
• Contribute to a welcoming environment for clients, patients and colleagues.
