Overview

We\'re thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic Veterinary Care Assistant to join our friendly, innovative small animal practice located in Norwood Road. This is an essential role working alongside our clinical and non clinical team to provide exceptional veterinary and client care. We are proud of our excellent reputation, which is down to our fantastic and welcoming staff.

Responsibilities
  • General cleaning, tidying, and washing particularly of clinical areas such as theatres
  • Running laboratory tests such as blood tests
  • Re-stocking equipment
  • Supporting and setting up surgical procedures
  • Animal handling and restraint
  • Walking, grooming and feeding hospitalised animals (inpatients)
  • Supporting the reception team when needed, including:
  • Meeting and welcoming clients
  • Answering the telephone and dealing with clients appropriately
  • Arranging/rescheduling appointments (when required)

This is a full-time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday with no weekends and no OOH! Shifts are usually spread over 4 days (10h shifts 8:30-19:00) which gives you one additional day off during the week. We are also happy to consider part-time applicants.

We are a 100% small animal, single branch vet practice in the cute and hip Herne Hill area of South London, only 15 minutes by train into Central London! Originally set up 21 years ago, we have a loyal client base and are seen as part of the local community.

Our team consists of 3 Veterinary Surgeons, a Head Nurse, a Veterinary Receptionist, 2 Veterinary Care Assistants and a Practice Director. We are a team who aim to do all the right things for our furry friends, always keeping the patient in mind! We love our cute and inviting practice, complete with 3 consulting rooms, ultrasound, digital X-ray, dental x-ray, dental machine, multiparameter, ECG, fully equipped lab, separate dog and cat wards not to mention our outdoor garden for those summer lunch breaks.

We are a Registered Training Practice, and we fully support our nurses and future student nurses in completing certificates to further their knowledge and development which is further supported by our dedicated learning and development platforms and networking.
