This independent small animal practice has been established for over 20 years and continues to run with the same ethos: providing excellent veterinary care without unnecessary upselling. The team is close-knit, drama-free, and genuinely supportive, with long-standing ties to the local community, including collaborations with a nearby cat charity.

Position: Lead / Veterinary Surgeon (Small Animal
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Sole charge: Yes – confidence in sole charge is essential
Caseload: Varied mix of consultations and surgeries
Weekdays: 9:00am start, last consult at 5:50pm (always breaks for a cuppa during the day).
Surgery typically 9:30–10:30am, then afternoon consult blocks, with surgery time factored in for the afternoon too.
Saturdays: 1 in 3 rota, 9:00am–12:00pm
Sundays: Closed.
OOH: None – covered externally.
Day off: 1 fixed day off per week.

IDEXX in-house lab

Salary: £Up to £70,000 DOE
CPD: Open to certificate support
Holiday: Generous leave allowance plus bank holidays
No OOH, supportive independent team
