A fabulous opportunity to be part of our Zoo! We are seeking a knowledgeable and competent Vet Nurse to join us permanently at Drayton Manor Resort, playing an integral role in our vet practice. You will be essential to our zoo operations, assisting in animal care and treatment, clinical and diagnostic support, nursing and rehabilitation, animal welfare, and record keeping. Your responsibilities as a Vet Nurse will include but are not limited to:

1. Contributing to evidence-based husbandry practices focused on maximizing animal welfare outcomes.
2. Assisting with the welfare evaluation of the zoo's living collection.
3. Working with animal staff on safe and legally compliant animal capture, restraint, and transport of zoo animals.
4. Administering drugs, anesthetics, and injections.
5. Preparing animals for veterinary procedures and monitoring throughout.
6. Working in accordance with RCVS and BVNA policies and procedures applicable to the role.
7. Maintaining Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records in line with RCVS requirements.
8. Attending and contributing to relevant external conferences, workshops, and meetings as agreed with your line manager.
9. Assisting with stock control and ordering of pharmaceuticals, including controlled drugs and veterinary consumables.

Key Skills and Attributes:

1. Must possess a valid Veterinary Nurse (RCVS) Certification.
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a vet nurse is desirable.
3. Understanding of regulations pertaining to animal management in the zoo.
4. Experience with ZIMS software.
5. Experience working with zoo, exotic, or wildlife species.
6. Excellent attention to detail.
