To lead the Vessel Agent team in providing in-house agency/husbandry service to all Group vessels. Ensuring all activities of the vessel call are fulfilled, needs of Master and crew are delivered in a safe and timely manner and abiding by all port and other legal requirements

Job type: Permanent

Hours: Shifts (Monday to Friday with Weekend calls)

Day-to-day:

  • Lead the Vessel Agent team and assign tasks where necessary.
  • The Role of Agent is very customer-focused in all aspects of the role.
  • Assist in other areas of Vessel Services and activities within your skills level as and when required.
  • Act as an Ambassador for the business at all times by acting as mentor/guide and setting a good example to others
  • Monitor vessel movements via various means including but not limited to direct contact with Vessel Master.
  • Allocating berths in principle to group vessels based upon technical knowledge of the fleet and berthing situation in Southampton, liaising with the Port to ensure safety and commercial expectations are met
  • Arrange Pilot and Towage in order to ensure the safe movement of the vessel, liaise with ABP VTS, Berthing team, Towage manager and mooring gang foreman.
  • Continually review the cargo operation, advising relevant parties of any delays, each vessel arrival/departure is reported to trade operator, key co-ordination enables vessels schedule to be kept.
  • Facilitate the crew change and assist any visitors to and from vessel,
  • Arrange provision of stores, fuel, spare parts, drinking water or any other requirements for the vessel prior to arrival or during the port stay, ensuring UK customs compliance is maintained.
  • Act as the local Point of Contact for vessel, including day-to-day matters and in the event of emergencies
  • The checking and customs clearing of Cargo with UK Customs to ensure all cargo can be-loaded / unloaded to/from vessel.
  • Submission of maritime statistics to HMRC

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Vessel Agency Team Leader/Husbandry role
  • Knowledge of UK Immigration rules for seafarers.
  • Knowledge of UK HMRC T1 ships spares procedures.
  • Good knowledge of customs clearance.
  • Good knowledge of export / import procedures.
