Venue Technician (Sound Bias) – Ref No: VT

Starting salary £28,579.20 pa, 40 Hours per week, at The Spotlight, Hoddesdon.

Are you passionate about technical theatre? Is sound your thing? The Spotlight Theatre are recruiting a Venue Technician with a sound bias to support The Spotlight’s busy events and entertainments programme.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the technical operation of all events, ensuring the smooth running of productions (with a focus on sound), as well as supporting a range of events including cinema, conferences, and private functions. Duties involve rigging, setting up, and operating sound, lighting, and stage equipment.

This is a varied role including practical technical work and supervision of casual technicians. You will need to be great with people and have experience of large-scale technical work, including production experience.

Requirements

You will have at least three years of experience working as a professional theatre technician in a multifunctional venue and have knowledge and experience of a broad range of technical theatre aspects such as sound, lighting, set building, and stage management. You will have an in-depth knowledge of Health and Safety issues, good communication skills, and be a team player with the ability to work flexibly.

Essential experience and skills include:

  • Excellent proven customer care skills
  • Flexibility in relation to duties and working hours
  • First Aid at work training (training will be provided if necessary)
  • Fire Marshal training (training will be provided if necessary)
  • Strong logistical skills
  • The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English
