A fantastic and unique opportunity for a Venue Operations Director to join an iconic sports & leisure venue in Northamptonshire.

Michael Page are working in partnership with Silverstone Circuits to recruit a Venue Operations Director for their world-leading motor sport, leisure, conferencing and event management venue. Home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Moto GP and British GT Championship, their impressive heritage and premium offering attracts high numbers of visitors to motorsport and corporate events year on year.

They are looking for a highly experienced individual who has a strong background delivering operational excellence and strategic change within a in sports / leisure venue.

The role requires you to be site based 5 days / week and live within a commutable distance of their Northamptonshire base.

Description

As the Venue Operations Director, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across operational functions of the business, ensuring seamless execution of the day to day running of the venue in terms of operations, maintenance and safety ensuring its readiness for all activities and events whilst driving efficiency, innovation and sustainability strategies across the venue.

You will be responsible for embedding robust operational frameworks, optimising cross-departmental collaboration and enhancing service delivery standards to meet and exceed business objectives. With a focus on long-term growth, sustainability and financial control, you will play a pivotal role in shaping operational excellence in addition to establishing and driving forward strategic planning and development projects for the venue and business to include capital, capital replacement and operational projects and leisure products integration alongside new initiatives.

  • Oversee a multi-disciplined venue operations team (Logistics, Maintenance, Facilities, Venue, Safety, Security, ESG)
  • Lead strategic planning for the venue operation teams, including the Venue Operations, Accreditation, Accessibility, ESG, Safety and Security. Ensuring the highest levels of organisation and execution.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive long-term venue operations strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business vision and objectives.
  • Establish and uphold areas of legal compliance
  • Promote a customer service culture throughout the Venue Operations Teams
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of operational projects, ensuring alignment with business priorities and objectives.
  • Drive operational transformation by implementing strategic initiatives that enhance venue capabilities, efficiency and sustainability.
  • Oversee all routine facilities construction, improvement and capital projects from design to completion.
  • Manage the selection, negotiation and management of key contractors and suppliers, ensuring optimal value and service delivery.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the ESG Strategy, ensuring measurable impact across all operational functions.

Profile

  • Extensive leadership experience in within a large-scale venue, sports, leisure or entertainment operations, with a proven track record of delivering operational excellence.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial, project and financial acumen, capable of shaping and executing long-term operational strategies.
  • Facilities Management experience preferred (maintenance, security, H&S/Compliance, CAPEX delivery)
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex project management, stakeholder engagement and risk mitigation.
  • A can-do attitude with a relentless focus on operational excellence and resilience able to work from strategy through to implementation using strong leadership skills, with experience in building, mentoring and managing teams.
  • Flexible, adaptable and creative mentality committed to delivering the highest performance standards
  • A team player who always demonstrates a collaborative and respectful behaviour.
