Octopus Investments is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support Octopus Ventures' investment activities. The role involves leading venture transactions, advising on portfolio company matters, and scaling legal delivery across the Ventures business within the OI Legal team.

Reporting to the Lead Venture Legal Counsel, you will work with investment professionals, founders and external advisers, while leveraging legal tech and AI tools to improve workflows and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with at least four years' post-qualification experience.
• Strong venture capital transaction experience advising investors.
• Ability to manage transactions independently and engage senior stakeholders.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and project management skills.
• Experience using legal technology and AI tools.
• Exposure to retail and institutional fund structures.

Responsabilités

• Oversee venture transactions from term sheet to completion.
• Advise on follow-on investments and exits for portfolio companies.
• Provide pragmatic, risk-based commercial legal advice.
• Coordinate internal and external teams to execute transactions.
• Build relationships with investment teams and external advisers.
• Identify opportunities to standardise and automate legal delivery.
• Support strategic initiatives and use of AI tools.
• Contribute to legal precedents and internal guidance.
