Job summary

Octopus is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support Octopus Ventures' investment activities. You will work closely with Ventures investment teams, leading transaction execution from term sheet to completion and advising on follow-on investments and exits.

Reporting to the Lead Venture Legal Counsel, you will manage external counsel, help scale legal support across the Ventures business and assist with retail and institutional fund structures.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with >=4 years' post-qualification experience.
• Extensive venture capital transaction experience.
• Proven ability to manage transactions independently with senior stakeholders.
• Strong drafting and project management skills.
• Experience using legal tech and AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee venture transactions from term sheet to completion.
• Advise on follow-on investments and portfolio matters.
• Provide pragmatic, risk-based legal advice to investment teams.
• Coordinate internal stakeholders and external counsel.
• Build relationships with investment teams and external advisers.
• Drive standardisation, automation and efficiency in legal delivery.
• Support strategic legal initiatives and cross-functional projects.
• Promote adoption of AI and legal technology to improve workflows.
• Develop internal precedents and know-how.
